About PlaBiTe
Platelet Biotechnologies S.L. (PlaBiTe) is a Spin-Off company of the Foundation for Health and Biomedicine Research and Innovation of Asturias (FINBA) and the University of Oviedo. PlaBiTe specializes in the field of biomedicine with the mission to develop platelet-based bioproducts, advanced therapies and services to improve human health.
Position
We are seeking a highly motivated biotech research scientist to join our Team and to participate in research and development (R&D) activities related to one of our platelet-based bioproducts.
Qualifications & Required skills
- A relevant PhD degree (Life Sciences: Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Biomedicine or related fields).
- Research experience in cellular and molecular biology
- Expertise in cell/tissue culture technologies: cell lines, primary cells.
- Experience in techniques such as microscopy and image analysis, flow cytometry, ELISA, Western blotting.
- Basic computer skills (Office).
- Fluency in Spanish and English.
Will be positively valued
- Experience in blood processing and handling blood components. Knowledge and experience in hematopoiesis/megakaryopoiesis.
- Knowledge and experience with data analysis / statistics software and/or open-source language and environment platforms for data / statistical analysis; experience in the analysis of large datasets and/or omics data.
- Research career or experience in the biotech/pharma industry. Assurance and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). Experience working in a cleanroom environment.
- Experience generating manufacturing documentation and product data sheets.
- Willingness to follow required training and educational courses; capacity to learn new technologies and adapt to new research scenarios.
- High communication skills.
Role and responsibilities
- Responsible of project execution.
- To participate and to establish internal/external collaborations.
- To elaborate Standard Operating Procedures, and to manage laboratory data collection & documentation systems.
- Participation in the manufacture and Quality Control (QC) of platelet-derived bioproducts.
- To assist in the supervision and coordination of activities of PhD students, graduate assistants and other research personnel engaged in the research and development project.
- To draft manuscripts for publication and to present work at local, national and/or international congresses.

Location
PlaBiTe is currently developing its R&D activity at the Health Research Institute of the Principality of Asturias (ISPA) in Oviedo (Avenida del Hospital Universitario S/N).
